ABOUT US

Paul Kay
Paul studied scientific photography/photographic science at what is now known at the University of Westminster in central London where he gained an honours degree before specialising in marine-orientated photography. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society, a distinction gained with the first digitally printed submission in Nature. Paul is a keen conservationist and one of his aims is to promote a wider appreciation of the underwater world through photographing its natural beauty and bringing this hidden world to wider audiences through talks and articles.

As well as this highly specialised area of photography, Paul also freelances and covers a wide range of other subject matter including industrial, tourism-related, illustrative, technical and landscape work. He has also directed and filmed underwater documentaries.

Paul’s photographic work has appeared in man books and magazines in the UK and throughout the world. Examples of Paul’s photography can be seen in the gallery pages of the website.

Commissioned photography
Paul is available for commissioned photography and is able to undertake both land-based and underwater (still and video) photography.

Paul is an experienced traveller and is able to operate anywhere to undertake commissions. He can undertake location, tourism and industrial photography.

Stock photography
As Paul has been based in North Wales for many years he has an extensive collection of images of Snowdonia (and further afield). Some of these images can be seen on this website within the galleries and, if you are interested in utilising any of them please contact him.

Underwater photography
Paul has a wealth of experience with underwater photography gained through over 25 years of diving and photographic experience in temperate and tropical seas. Paul holds an HSE Part 4 (commercial scuba diving certificate) and HSE medical enabling him dive as part of a team and comply with UK Health and Safety Diving at Work Regulations within the UK. In addition to stills photography, Paul undertakes underwater videography.

Technical and equipment support for underwater photographic shoots:

Paul can supply underwater photographic stills equipment for hire and is also able to offer his services to run this equipment for large advertising and similar shoots.
